Hallelujah! God has found just the right rector for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Greenville, Texas!

The Rev. Dr. Nicholas (Nick) Jason Funk and his wife Laura will arrive in early summer, probably June. He comes to us from St. James’ Episcopal Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he has spent the past ten years as Rector. Prior to that he served at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, St. Pete Beach, Florida and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Naples, Florida. For his Doctor of Ministry, Fr. Nick studied at St. Petersburg Theological Seminary. The title of his dissertation is “Towards an Anglican Sacramental Theology: An Understanding of the Sacraments within the Anglican Church, and a Course in Anglican Liturgies”. He earned both his Master of Divinity with Honors and his Bachelor of Arts at the University of the South. Before focusing on Christian ministry, Fr. Nick worked for Tech Data Corporation and the United States Army.

His proven attributes include biblically oriented, fair-minded decision-making, organized, creative preaching, innovative problem-solving, dependable leadership, traditional liturgies, capable teaching, and a sense of humor.

Both Fr. Nick and Laura are looking forward to being with us soon, and I know you will give them a grand Greenville welcome. They already have a realtor who is assisting their search for just the right Greenville home for them and their loving dog, Cosette, a lovely, calm fellow on screen. You will hear more next week. Your Vestry members found them to be a comfortable, friendly family.

Fri., Apr. 13 – I spoke with Fr. Todd who is in much better spirits after a 2 layer lumbar fusion surgery with a much smaller incision and recovery time of about a month. Surgery was on April 12. He is at home now and asked me to tell you how very much he has appreciated your cards and notes. He has missed us all and looks forward to being with us for Fr. Nick’s investiture with Bishop Sumner.

Fri., Apr. 13 – Final touches were being made to the room formerly called ‘the parlor’. Both Vestry and School Board members enjoyed meeting in such a pleasant room. Thank you, ECW!

Sat., April 14 – Pancake Breakfast (8-9 a.m.) has been deemed a success. The cooking team of Frank McKee and Greg Richards as ably guided by Head Cook of the Morning, Andrew Davis. Tables were filled and donations for Meals on Wheels totaled about $140.00.

Sat., Apr. 14 – All Church Clean Day (9-1p.m.) In spite of the cold and gusty wind, eleven hardy folk turned out for outdoor and indoor work – trimming bushes, bagging wet leaves and blooms, edging curbs, a bit of mowing, cleaning rector shower, vacuuming nursery office area, washing walls of room formerly known as ‘the parlor’, hanging the large refurbished wall mirror, spot-cleaning Clardy floor, and cleaning the fluorescent lights in the areas above the Stations of the Cross were the tasks completed by parishioners of all ages. Thank you, all you go-getters! Age truly is an attitude!
COMING Sundays

Sun., Apr. 22 – Please be aware that both St. Paul’s Wardens, Elizabeth and Frank, will be out of state. Your other Vestry members (Paula, Tommy, Andrew, Jeff, David, Cecilia, and Greg) will be at your service.
